Drilling According to the Purposes of Construction:
a) Exploration Drillings
– It is the exploration drillings to determine whether the minerals or minerals to be searched are underground.
b) Development Drilling
– These are drillings to determine the size of a deposit determined to contain ore and the distribution area of the minerals it contains.
c) Production Drillings
– If the mine deposit is to be operated with wells to be drilled with drilling, operating wells are drilled in accordance with a specific plan and production method.
(Eg oil, natural gas, sulfur, water, salt)
d) Auxiliary Drillings
– These are the drillings made to assist the operation of the mine deposit.
Aims of Drilling;
- Reserve detection and reserve expansion works,
- To determine the direction, investment, depth and amount of mines,
- To identify the geological layers,
- Getting information about rocks and formation,
- Core or sediment sampling works,
- Intact or corrupt sampling works,
- Ventilation chimney construction,
- Measuring groundwater levels,
- Pressurized water testing,
- Penetration test (permeability test),
- Standard penetration test,
- Cone penetration test,
- Measuring well deviations,
- Using well deflection wedges,
- Piping of wells.
